Better privacy and security features will be the most important software innovation in the next five years, according to the survey. Armv9 security features, including Memory Tagging Extension (MTE), are set to play a vital role in simplifying software complexity and providing more secure, safer user experiences. This was closely followed by the wider software trend of moving AI inference from the cloud to consumer devices.
However, operating systems remain the biggest pain point when trying to innovate and increase the performance of technology. Arm remains committed to ensuring that software “runs better” across all of our technologies and actively incorporates software features and compatibility into all our products and solutions for consumer tech markets. Here’s what the survey revealed:
Secure Software
64 percent predict that better processes and applications for managing privacy and security will be the most important software innovation over the next five years.
AI Inference
57 percent say that moving AI inference from the cloud to devices will be one of the most important software innovations over the next five years.
Software Pain Point
30 percent say that operating systems are the biggest pain point when trying to increase the performance of the technology that they were working on or with.
